Connecting Schema

Making train tracks, doing puzzles unendingly, asking everyone to hold hands, putting magnets together and apart again - these are all tasks a child completes when fulfilling the Connecting Schema.

Understanding the Connecting Schema means that later on in life, children can understand what type of glue, tape or staple they might need to fix something that has broken. They can make jewellery, sculptures and build flat pack furniture. They will know how to undo a knot or the principle behind writing code for a web app.

Ways in which the Connecting Schema is supported at Discovery Time:

  • using clay with all sorts of different tools to create anything the imagination desires.
  • using different materials with the projectors to create scenes and patterns on the walls.
  • stacking and unstacking blocks.
