Wheels, the washing machine, spinning in circles, rolling down a hill. These are all Rotation Schema explorations. Round, and round, and round!

We need to know how to do everyday things like use screw drivers and turn door handles. And without understanding rotation, we wouldn't have wheels, or be able to use rotational magnetic fields so that we can have induction motors, which run things like fridges and wind tunnels.

We support the Rotation Schema at Discovery Time by

  • mixing clay and water.
  • watching and making light spin around in patterns.
  • mark making, drawing or painting circles and spirals.
